Hands on Therapy!
When it comes to osteopathy, it’s a hands-on-therapy designed to treat headaches, neck and back pain as well as repetitive injuries, arthritis and other problems. There’s many different problems that can be resolved by treatment and a quality osteopath.
What sort of treatment is involved with osteopathy?
The osteopath will engage different techniques to help treat the problems of their patients, they can perform massages, help stretch out stiff joints, move joints through their normal range of motion and adjust them using fast, high velocity thrusts to the affected area. These technique will help to relieve your pain and restore the body to a better range of motion.
A common cause of discomfort or pain are injuries or medical conditions that cause a part of the body to stop moving in full range and motion. Once the part of the body stops working correctly or becomes stiff and restricted, the other parts of the body will need to work harder to compensate, this will result in them becoming inflamed an uncomfortable. When it comes to muscular and postural imbalances, these occur from a range of motions and inflammations causing pain.
Should you be considering osteopathy, one of the biggest questions is that, will I feel better after the sessions. The amount of sessions you’ll undergo before feeling the full benefits can depend on a number of reasons, with the biggest determining how many osteopathy sessions you’ll need for a long standing health problem. Recent problems, from injuries or recently developed medical issues can be addressed from just a few sessions, usually less than three.

Longstanding injuries and osteopathy treatment
Longstanding injuries of medical problems are likely to need more sessions, in almost all cases, osteopaths do not require more than nine sessions to complete treatment.
How long is the average session?
Sessions can be fairly long, the first session could take up to an hour or even longer as it will involve determining your problem and the extent of it. Some treatments are shorter than others, with some being 30 to 45 minutes, this can only include one form of treatment or a combination of different treatment modalities.
Treatment sessions should not cause pain, there could be some discomfort as tight muscles and joints may be moved after long periods of being tight or inflamed. Following the treatment, some patients experience muscle soreness and stiffness, especially if the treatment is for muscles that had been inflamed for a long period of time.
